COVID kills 24 a week in Nova Scotia

The number of hospitalizations caused by COVID-19 rose last week, the Nova Scotia Department of Health said in its weekly epidemiological report on Thursday.

24 people were reported dead in COVID from April 19 to 25 in the province. This is a Nova Scotia record for a week.

It’s also almost double that of last week.

At the same time, 91 new people were hospitalized due to this disease. Among those who died, or were discharged from the hospital, there were 66 people hospitalized with COVID in Nova Scotia on Thursday, including 11 in intensive care.

On the other hand, we will see in the weekly summary a marked reduction the number of new cases, compared to the previous week.

From April 19 to 25, Nova Scotia labs recorded 5,436 positive test -confirmed results. PCR. This is an average of 776 new cases per day, down from the 1072 daily cases recorded in the week of April 12-18.

Positive results from the quick COVID test, such as those you can do at home, are not aggregated.

During the period covered by the previous epidemiological report (April 12–18), 13 COVID-related deaths and 92 new hospitalizations were reported.
