Some gatherings on Downing Street during the detentions “should not have been allowed to happen” and “senior leaders” of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s services should “accept responsibility”, ending Wednesday’s administrative investigation conducted into the partygate scandal.
Many of these events should not be allowed to happen, senior civil servant Sue Gray wrote in her report.
It is also true that some of the less experienced officials believe that their participation in some of these events is permissible due to the presence of senior leaders. Senior leaders, whether political or official, must take responsibility for this culturehe wrote.
Senior civil servant Sue Gray investigated 16 gatherings Johnson and members of his staff attended because strict lockout measures prevent Britons from socializing.
The report speaks of a lack of leadership and judgment at 10 Downing Street, in reference to the office of the Prime Minister.
Boris Johnson must address the findings of today’s report in Parliament. The Conservative Prime Minister has already apologized for the rallies, which have led to calls for his resignation.
An independent police investigation has previously led to the imposition of fines against 83 people, including one against Boris Johnson himself, who made him Britain’s prime minister who broke the law during his term.
