COVID-19: Public health reports 29 fewer hospitalizations, but 12 more deaths

Quebec public health reported 12 new deaths from COVID-19. But authorities on the same breath cited a 29 drop in the number of patients hospitalized, bringing the number to 1315 hospitals.

In addition, 43 patients were hospitalized in intensive care, a decrease of 2 people compared to the previous day’s results.

With the addition of 12 new deaths, 15,390 Quebecers have now died in COVID-19 since the pandemic began in February 2020.

Authorities indicated that 3,998 workers in the health network had none of the reasons associated with the disease, either through preventive withdrawal, to put themselves in isolation or because they were waiting for test results, etc.

In its most recent report, Quebec’s public health recorded 715 new cases of COVID-19. Since the pandemic began, 1,063,741 Quebecers have fallen ill.

Quebec reported that 12,234 samples were taken on May 24. However, access to these diagnostic tests is reserved for at-risk populations.

In addition, 211,987 self-reported rapid tests have been identified so far. For Tuesday, 212 tests were declared, including 171 positive.

On the vaccination side, 9,689 additional doses of vaccines against COVID-19 were given, bringing the total number of doses given to Quebecers to 20,206,703. This figure includes doses administered outside of Quebec, i.e., 334,509 doses.
