Beginning June 18, wearing a mask on public transportation is no longer mandatory in Quebec. The Minister of Health and Social Services, Christian Dubé, confirmed this information on Wednesday, after receiving a recommendation from Quebec Public Health to this effect.

This new measure comes just one month after the end of the obligation to wear a mask in closed or partially covered public places on May 14.

Thus, it will be possible to use public transport services without a mask, although it remains recommended, especially for vulnerable people, to limit the risk of infection with COVID-19.

This is an important step, proving significant improvement in the epidemiological situation in recent weeks.said Mr. Dubé. The decision to wear a mask, both in public places and on public transport, remains a personal choice.said the Minister of Health.

Wearing a mask or face mask remains mandatory to go to hospitals (except psychiatric hospitals), CHSLD, CLSC and medical clinics.

Also, people who have contracted COVID-19 must continue to wear a mask when they come into contact with another person, at least five days after their separation at home. For people living with someone with COVID-19, they must wear a mask for 10 days.
