COVID-19 assessment: hospitalizations remain stable in the region

The number of hospitalizations related to COVID-19 in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean remained stable compared to last week, while one death has been added since the last update on Friday.

This is indicated by the weekly report from the National Institute of Public Health of Quebec (INSPQ).

Twenty people are hospitalized in hospitals in the region, including 12 at the Chicoutimi hospital, but none are in intensive care. This data has been fluctuating between 20 and 22 since June 6.

A total of 125 confirmed cases have been added since Friday, for an average of about 25 new cases per day. This average is slightly higher than those recorded in previous weeks. Remember that PCR tests are always reserved for priority groups.

The additional death brings the toll to 449 since the start of the pandemic. So far 159 people have died in connection with COVID-19 in 2022, compared to 59 in 2021 and 229 in 2020.

The number of active cases is no longer available.

The next COVID-19 data update will be released on June 29.

Provincial report

In Quebec, an increase in hospitalizations has been observed. The increase is 43 compared to the previous day, with a total of 1084. Eight more deaths have been recorded in 24 hours.

Nearly 5,000 healthcare workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19.
