A week before the start of the school year, the seventh epidemic wave of Covid-19 is ending in France. Despite a likely rebound in the fall, the Ministry of National Education and the unions have decided that the health protocol in schools will be at the “base” level, that is, the lowest level of measures, according to information from Parisianconfirmed by BFMTV.
“The determination of the applicable level is based on a qualitative (nature and characteristics of the variants) and quantitative (hospital situation in particular) analysis of the situation”, indicates the Ministry of National Education.
This means that students will have “face-to-face” classes and that there will be no restrictions on physical activity and sports.
Masks and self-assessments
The “base” level is the lowest of four levels provided for in new school health protocol rules announced last month. It is already underway in Mayotte and Réunion, where students are already back on school benches.
The Ministry of National Education has also informed unions that teachers who request it will be able to receive surgical masks and self-assessments provided by pharmacies.
