More than a thousand daily cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Nova Scotia

More than a thousand new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed daily in Nova Scotia, the weekly epidemiological report from the province’s Department of Health found Thursday.

Test results only polymerase chain reaction testing conducted in the laboratory are compiled, and not those obtained by a quick examination, such as those that can be done at home.

From April 6 to 11, laboratories in Nova Scotia recorded 6,192 positive test results for COVID-19.

This represents 1032 new cases per day. Last week’s average was 998 new cases confirmed per day, on average, by PCR test.

According to the Ministry of Health, this is a continued increase in positive laboratory test results.

However, the provincial government considers that the number of hospitalizations and deaths remains relatively low, which it associates with high vaccination rate.

Fourteen more people died of COVID-19 on April 6-11, and 72 more people were hospitalized because of COVID.

Booster dose is not very popular

Nearly two-thirds (64%) of Nova Scotians aged 18 and older have now received a booster dose, commonly referred to as reinforcementfrom a vaccine to ribonucleic acid messenger against COVID-19.

The Prime Minister Tim Houston said that worried to see that booster doses are not as popular as the main series of vaccines in 2021.

Liberal Opposition Leader and former Prime Minister, Iain Rankinbelieves the Progressive Conservative government needs to deliver public service announcements about vaccination with the same energy it uses to encourage people to go out and frequent local businesses.

Tim Houston says his government is considering how to encourage people to make an appointment for a booster dose.

The epidemiological report shared by health authorities on Thursday shows statistics from a six -day period. It is indicated that the next weekly report will cover seven days, from Tuesday to Monday, and will continue to be published every Thursday.
