A fire broke out Thursday around 5 pm at the residence of the elderly Pioneers in Sept-les. All residents had to be evacuated for safety reasons.
A man, busy with smoke, was taken to the hospital center. We are not afraid for his life, the Sûreté du Québec confirmed.
Sent to the scene, firefighters quickly controlled the fire, confirmed Patrick Gwilliam, director general of the City of Sept-les.
Residents of the residence were evacuated in time to get rid of the smoke and the odors, the director general specified.
Anita Mazerolle, a resident on the third floor of the Pioneer residence, came out when the fire alarm sounded. I’m not nervous, I’ve seen it before, for 87 years! But there are many on the sidelineshe reports.
Those who lived at night should have all returned to their homes.
Investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire.
