Montreal: a worker injured in a hit and run on Highway 25

A worker at a road construction site was seriously injured Friday night in eastern Montreal when he was hit by a car that drove the driver away.

At dawn, police were still searching for the driver.

For the injured man, 56 years old, his life is no longer in danger, according to the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Highway 25 northbound, near the exit of the Louis-Hippolyte-Lafontaine bridge-tunnel.

A restraint patrol consisting of several vehicles was on duty to slow down traffic around the site. However, according to what SQa motorist driving a small vehicle disrespected the slowing instruction and punched the worker before fleeing.

After dawn, the SQ there is no more exact description of the small vehicle.

Investigators and collision reconstruction experts conducted an analysis of the scene at night. Normal traffic was restored on Highway 25 North around 5 am

The Sûreté du Québec confirms that witnesses witnessed the unfortunate collision.
