The driver who led a mad run between Shawinigan and Boucherville in June 2020 was sentenced to 18 months in prison. Alexandre Brière caused road accidents, stole vehicles and fled police hours before he was arrested.
On the night of June 1, 2020, the 39-year-old man, who was intoxicated with drugs, attacked a man on the street in Shawinigan. Later, he threatened a female driver before it left him his vehicle from which he fled.
A chase ensued in which Alexandre Brière drove in the other direction on the road, causing several accidents. He also stole three vehicles while running. Several people were injured, quite weak.
He was eventually intercepted by police in Boucherville, but with no difficulty. They had to use pepper first, then the stun gun so he couldn’t move.
Alexandre Brière pleaded guilty to ten counts in connection with these events.
The judge endorsed the joint proposal of the parties.
Upon his release from prison, the man will not be able to drive for five years and will be subject to probation.
Alexandre Brière had previously been convicted of a driving disability.
He was expelled from the Canadian Armed Forces because of his drug abuse issues.
