Samuel Beaugé-Malenfant, a former lawyer and former youth hockey coach, was convicted of voyeurism and committing child pornography.
In August 2018, Samuel Beaugé-Malenfant installed a hidden camera on a clock radio in the bathroom of a chalet where he received two friends and their three children in Orford.
The parents realized this and the former lawyer was arrested by the Sûreté du Québec and the Régie de police de Memphrémagog that same night.
Police confiscated his laptop, cell phone and items found in a carry bag.
After analyzing this content, 38 counts were filed against Mr. Beaugé-Malenfant, including 30 of voyeurism with teens, 2 of having sex with 14-year-old teens, and 6 of committing child pornography.
However, the court concluded that without all the evidence collected in this case, since the night of Mr. Beaugé-Malenfant’s arrest, the police had not respected his right to a lawyer.
As a result, Samuel Beaugé-Malenfant was acquitted on 38 counts. The 29-year-old man was convicted only for voyeurism and committing child pornography events that took place in the cottage.
His minimum sentence is one year in prison. His lawyer, however, intends to challenge the constitutionality of this sentence.
