A man will appear today at the Sherbrooke courthouse in connection with the accident that killed Sébastien Filteau in October in the Saint-Élie sector.
The 34-year-old Sherbrooke resident was arrested. Police said he could be charged with hit-and-run and dangerous driving resulting in death.
The Sherbrooke Police Department added that the man was under a driving ban at the time of the events.
The accident occurred at the corner of chemin Laliberté and rue de l’Alcôve, while the victim was riding a bicycle. The vehicle also included a 27-year-old woman who collided with a cyclist. He could be accused of complicity in the matter, authorities confirmed.
He initially said he was driving the vehicle, but the investigation revealed that instead the man was the source of the accident.
