Police have launched an investigation following vandalism activities at 16 election signs for Liberal candidate Mitzie Hunter on the Scarborough-Guildwood ride.
The Ontario Liberal MP said he was shocked to discover Sunday that some of his election signs had been damaged by hate speech in the Ellesmere and Markham street area.
We strongly condemn [cette] stock. That’s not us in Scarboroughsaid Ms. Hunter. I’ve been an MPP for nine years and it hasn’t happened yet […] actually, disgusting.
Ms Hunter was visiting a long-term care home when she learned of hate speech destroying her election materials.
What was conveyed to the panels […] Nazi, fascist and even one who said Dark faceincredibly frustrating for me personally to see it, growing up in this community, [ayant] there is always a feeling of belonging to this place.
The MP’s office was notified of the incident by a motorist, Allan Lacosse, who was driving in the area with his brother when he noticed the offensive graffiti.
It’s a bit disturbing to see the first thing in the morning, he shared. In all my years in the city of Toronto, I have never seen it.
Mr. Lacosse said there were about 25 campaign signs in the area, owned by candidates from the Liberal party, PC and NDP, but only the Liberal candidate signs were damaged.
The damaged panels were removed after a few hours, he added.
Ms Hunter said police were taking into account the incident very serious and it will not affect his re -election campaign.
We want to run a positive campaign and it won’t bother usunderlined the Liberal candidate.
