A commercial building affected by fire in L’Ange-Gardien

A fire severely damaged a commercial building in L’Ange-Gardien, in Outaouais, late Monday afternoon.

Public Security of MRC Des Collines-de-l’Outaouais indicates that it received several 911 calls, in the late afternoon, around 5 pm, for a fire that broke out in a commercial building located on the chemin des Bâtisseurs in L’Ange- Gardien, in the industrial park near the intersection of Routes 309 and 315.

A heavy smoke was seen from Route 309 and the building was completely on fire when police arrived, Public Security explained. MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, in a press release.

The L’Ange-Gardien fire safety service tried to control the fire, with the help of SOPFEU due to the danger of spreading to the forest located not far from the building. The Val-Des-Monts fire department also arrived to help contain the fire.

No one was reported injured because the business was closed at the time of the fire. The damage is estimated at several hundred thousand dollars.

An investigation is underway to determine the causes of the fire, but so far, the L’Ange-Gardien Fire Department indicates that nothing seems to suggest it was an arson attack.
