Dylan McLaren was sentenced to 33 months in prison following a violent attack in downtown Val-d’Or in August 2021.
The 36-year-old man pleaded guilty in November to two counts, aggravated assault and assault with a firearm.
The attack occurred following an argument between McLaren and a man in his 40s. The two men made several punches until the accused took over and the victim lost consciousness. He continued to harass her, punching her several times in the face and kicking her. McLaren then ran over the bloody man with his bike, before leaving the scene.
The victim was taken to hospital for treatment of serious facial injuries. In particular, he had to undergo reconstructive eye socket surgery.
The sentence of 1010 days in prison was proposed by two prosecutors and ratified by judge Renée Lemoine. Considering the time spent in pre-trial detention, Dylan McLaren will have to spend the next 20 months behind bars.
Judge Lemoine also imposed three years of probation on the defendant, during which he must act to overcome his problems with violence and drug use.
