Alma’s firefighters prevented the spread of fire that destroyed a container

A fire in a shipping container near Garage Delisle in Alma caught attention Tuesday afternoon as very high plumes of black smoke could be seen for miles around.

Twenty firefighters from the Fire Prevention Service intervened to prevent any spreading around.

The flesh turned to ashes. Traffic was cut off on the avenue du Pont Nord.

We received a call at 3:41 pm for a container fire next to a building. […] When we arrived, the fire quickly spread to the forest and to the grass that was now very dry.explained Maxime Fortin, director of Alma’s fire prevention department.

Note that the risk of forest fires is currently considered extreme in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean by the Society for the Protection of Forests against Fire (SOPFEU).
