A tanker truck overturned in a canal in Magog

A tank truck overturned around 8:50 am in a canal at exit 32 of Highway 55 in Magog industrial park.

The truck would not have succeeded in stopping, and ended its career in the ditch by hitting a pole.

The vehicle was completely torn by the force of the impact, which resulted in the disposal of liquid magnesium.

The trucker survived the impact. He was taken to hospital, but did not know the nature of his injuries.

Brake marks on the floor.

Police officers from the Memphremagog Police Board were on the scene to try to determine what caused the accident. Urgence environnement employees were called to check if there was any contamination in the area.

The sector should be avoided, according to police, not knowing when the ramp will reopen. Access to the highway from boulevard Poirier is also closed.

This is the second accident involving a truck that occurred at this location under similar circumstances. In 2019, trucker Sylvain Ferguson died after losing control of his vehicle.
