Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini, who played his last game at Juventus on Saturday, confessed on Monday that “winning the European Championship is something unique” and that “the team beat Juve” emotionally.
“On the pitch, winning the European Championship is something unique. The national team also beat Juve, with all the love and respect I have for Juve. Seeing the whole country celebrating after Covid, at 37 years of age and after the problems I’ve had… I didn’t think it would come to that,” said the center-back in an Instagram direct from the State Institute of Higher Education in Livorno (Italy, north), the city where he lived until he was 20 years old.
Chiellini, close to turning 38, said goodbye last Monday to what has been his fans during the 17 seasons he has played for the club with a great tribute at Juventus Stadium.

“It was one of the most exciting days. The farewell at Juventus Stadium with my family in the stands, an exciting evening, the end of a career that has given me so much satisfaction,” he assured.
The future of the defender points to the American MLS, although the player stated that, despite the fact that he would like to try out outside the Italian borders, nothing is closed.
“These are weeks in which the mind revolves around various things. I would like an experience abroad, but I have to evaluate the pros and cons. Leaving Turin (north), moving the family with small children… Still I’m thinking about it,” he said.
In addition, Chiellino revealed that the Swedish Zlatan Ibrahimovic, striker brand new champion of the ‘scudetto’ with Milan, has been his best enemy on green.
“My best enemy has been Ibrahimovic. On the pitch we haven’t stopped fighting, but off the pitch we hold each other in high esteem. I’m glad he’s still active at 40.”
The charismatic defender says goodbye as one of the most prolific players in the history of the ‘vecchia signora’, having lifted nine ‘scudetti’ (2012-2020) consecutively, five Italian Cups and another five Super Cups. He has resisted the Champions.
