Russian President Vladimir Putin joked on Monday that he would have a serious conversation with the West over allegations that the West is responsible for all the economic chaos caused by the conflict in Ukraine and the crippling sanctions it has imposed on your country.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine killed thousands and displaced 14 million, the West’s attempt to isolate Russia as punishment, and Moscow’s blocking of grain shipments from Ukraine’s Black Sea ports oil and gas, grain, edible oil and increased fertilizer prices.

At a televised meeting in the Black Sea resort town of Sochi, Putin told Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko that the Russian economy is in good shape despite Western sanctions.

Lukashenko said the sanctions gave both countries an impetus to focus on improving themselves, and that Western elites were deceived as to the causes of their economic problems.

“In the economy, we really thank them (in the West), because they have given us a great support for our own development,” Lukashenko told Putin, smiling and nodding.

Lukashenko said, “What happened there is that they really underestimated by reading their own media. There is inflation, but the truth is that ‘Putin is guilty’, ‘Putin is guilty of everything,” he said.

Putin pursed his lips and shook his head.

“We’re going to have a serious talk with them,” said Putin, with a forced smile.

Lukashenko laughed and said “Yes”.
