The trial of Michaël Chicoine, who is accused of killing her two children in Wendake in October 2020, will begin on Sept. 12.

After a particularly stormy hearing, due to the defendant’s conduct, the date of his trial was set in his absence.

After sitting on the dock, the 32-year-old gave the middle finger to his ex-wife, mother of two murdered children.

The woman was accompanied by her father, grandfather of the victims, who expressed his disgust at the actions of his ex -son -in -law.

Michaël Chicoine became impatient when the prosecution lawyer gave an update on the case.

The alleged killer then made comments that raised eyebrows at those present in the courtroom.

I’m very sorry for what I just heardthen his lawyer, Me Pierre Gagnon, reacted.

Attorney Pierre Gagnon came out of an office.

She indicated that her client was in need of care, which she was not currently receiving.

After the break, the lawyers returned to the judge to set a trial date.

The magistrate told the correctional officers that there was no need to return the accused.

The trial is subsequently set for Sept. 12, for a period of 5 weeks.

Jean-Simon Larouche will present the evidence of the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP).

Because it was a jury trial and in order not to interfere with the judicial process, the judge issued an order prohibiting the broadcast of comments made by Chicoine during the hearing.
