Violent incidents in Tirana on the eve of Roma-Feyenoord

Today, on the eve of the Conference League final that will face Rome and Feyenoord this Wednesday. Violent clashes have broken out in Tirana, the Albanian police have reported. The provisional balance is ten injured, including seven policemen and two Italian fans. Eight Dutch people were arrested.

The incidents began when Dutch supporters attacked a 45-year-old Albanian man with a knife who had to be taken to hospital. Apparently he would have shouted in favor of Roma.


The clashes with the police took place when a group of around 200 Feyenoord supporters were trying to reach an area where Roma supporters were. The fans threw stones at the security forces.

There were also clashes between supporters of the two teams in at least three places in the Albanian capital, according to media sources.

Although the capacity of the Arena Kombetare stadium, where the match will be played, is only 21,000 seats, at least 100,000 from the two teams attended Tirana. They will have to stay apart and will have to watch the game on giant screens. A device of 2,000 police officers will ensure security.
