Legal proceedings in the case of former Trois-Rivières police officer, David Ross, are coming to an end. The man who pleaded guilty to the stalking cases of two ex-wives spoke to the victims today as part of the sentencing submissions.
Repentantly, he says he realizes all the damage he may have caused to the two women, but swears that he is now a new man, especially because of the therapy.
” I am ashamed to act like this. This is shameful and psychologically offensive for the victims. 100% I blame “
David Ross has 17 years of experience with Trois-Rivières Police. He addressed the victims through the letter he wrote. At the Montreal courthouse on Wednesday, the accused tried to convince Judge André Perreault that this pain that wants to control everythinghe said, was a thing of the past and that he had taken great steps to heal himself.
In his speech to Judge Perrault, he also read excerpts from the song, Maudite jalousie, by Kevin Parent, which mentioned that it represented what he was going through at the time of the events. I can’t get anything positive for this disease. I’m glad I got out of here. I grew up and I am proud of itHe added.
Note that the events in which the 44-year-old man was accused took place between 2005 and 2017 in Mauricie. In addition to exercising control and being overly jealous of his ex -wives, he consulted with the Quebec Police Intelligence Center to obtain information about them.
The former police officer also reported the consequences on his personal and professional life, estimating that losing his job as a police officer would cost him the loss of approximately two million dollars, including a lifetime pension fund. He also expressed a desire to return, one day, to his former job. It is an honor, He added. Left by the City of Trois-Rivières in 2021, he finally found a job as a coordinator at a factory in Mauricie.
Asked about his lack of empathy
If David Ross tried to show that he was a new person, Crown prosecutor Me Jennifer Morin asked him about a passage in the report before the sentence that mentioned mixed empathy to the victims. He replied that he did not know the evil and the consequences of his actions at that time, but he did not want to experience it himself.
Thursday completed hearings from witnesses and defendants as part of sentencing submissions in Ross’ case, which faces five counts. Lawyers will debate the verdict to be imposed on Aug. 26 at the Montreal courthouse.
