Possible theft of personal information from Toronto hospitals

The Scarborough Health Network (SHN) said it was the victim of a cyberattack in late January. An anonymous hacker can have access to the names, addresses and health card numbers of certain patients, among other things.

The combination of the three hospitals (Birchmount, centenary at General) reports that unusual activity was detected in its systems on January 25th.

The computer breach was plugged in on February 1, thanks to the help of experts, guarantees NHS in a press release.

The hospital network said it has not yet been identified malicious use of data.

However, the NHS offers its patients a free credit report tracking service through TransUnion for two years. They have until Sept. 30 to register by calling 1-888-874-2140.

Information the hacker may have access to includes: patient numbers, name, address, phone number, email, insurance policy number, health insurance number and test results.

ang NHS specifies that the security breach does not affect individuals vaccinated against COVID-19 at one of its three hospitals, unless they were admitted to the hospital at that time.
