Mamadi Fara Camara said he was saddened to learn that Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) police officer Sanjay Vig became the object, Thursday, of a new armed attack on duty, for the second time in in just 16 months.

Reached by phone, the 27-year-old father had no hard feelings.

Sanjay Vig is the police officer who sadly came to the public’s attention in January 2021 after making a mistake about the man by referring to Mamadi Fara Camara as attacking in a brutal attack deemed attempted murder.

It was first and foremost a man in question, before even thinking about his professional status as a police officer. This is a person who is in the service of a public institution. And it’s really sad that he was the target of this armed attack.said Mamadi Fara Camara, who was charged and jailed for six days in the heart of the Rivière-des-Prairies because of agent Sanjay Vig.

To our information, this very policeman was conducting a road safety operation yesterday around 3:25 pm in the southwest when he heard at least two explosions near him.

Police patrol car Sanjay Vig was targeted by small-scale gunfire in the southwestern sector of Montreal.

When he returned to look at his patrol car, he immediately noticed that the rear window was shattered in the seat. The latter reported the incident itself to studiothe central communication system of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal.

According to an internal communication, the police are currently on psychological support. Sanjay Vig was nearly killed by beating and was disarmed by a suspect who was finally arrested in Toronto, in the Parc-Extension district, in January 2021.

In recent months, SPVM has assigned the police officer elsewhere to allow him to open the page and, most importantly, to be safer.

In Thursday’s incidents, the weapon used was said to be of small caliber, but the projectiles were powerful enough to cause damage.

Despite having a large criminal investigation team, it is still impossible to know if Constable Vig was personally targeted or if the armed incident coincidentally involved him.

I don’t understand this violence in Montreal. I mean, how can a gun be used to commit a crime? This is very worrying. This level of violence should not be the same as what is happening in the United Statesmentioned by Mamadi Fara Camara.

The investigation will tell us the motive of this attack, but personally, I think it is more a symbol of the police being targeted by destroying the patrol car. Some communities in Montreal are calling for changes in institutions such as the police. There are populations in large cities who feel frustrated with the police, and they demand a more fair and equitable security service.he mentioned.

Recall that the persistence of the proceedings of the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecution against Mamadi Fara Camara, after he was removed from DNA evidence of his involvement in the attack on Sanjay Vig, forced the former director of SPVM, Sylvain Caron, who publicly apologized to him.

The only involvement of the young father of two was to call 911 to report the attack to officer Sanjay Vig, so that other policemen could help him.
