Four new vehicles went missing overnight from Saturday to Sunday at a car dealership in Saint-Georges de Beauce.
The incident happened around 1 a.m. Sunday. Hours later, police at the scene and the Sûreté du Québec opened an investigation.
The stolen vehicles were as follows: three 2022 Jeep Gladiators (blue, white and granite) and a black 2021 Durango Hellcat. The thief (s) had to break down the doors of only two of the four vehicles.
Kennebec Dodge Chrysler dealer in Saint-Georges, Simon Beaudoin, said he has never seen anything like it.
It always gives us stress every time there is a car coming back, we have to take all precautions and for years to come. […] I have owned my dealership for 25 years and I have never seen it. One flight, yes, but not four on the same nighthis confession.
Still according to the owner, the burglar or thieves may have committed this theft while the Country Festival of Saint-Georges was in full swing. In fact, Simon Beaudoin gave access to the parking lot to festival spectators, which he thinks could, he thinks, have made it easier for criminals.
The total value of the four cars was more than $ 343,000.
So far, no suspects have been arrested.
Mr. Beaudoin assured that many steps will be taken to ensure that such an event does not recur.
The Corporation of Quebec Automobile Dealers noted that this is not a new or rare phenomenon.
