Arrested in Oakville, school lockdown lifted

Halton police arrested a suspect Tuesday in Oakville, after a call about a man allegedly near a high school carrying a gun.

White Oaks High School was put on lockdown and five other schools in the area were lockeddown. The situation quickly returned to normal in all these establishments.

Police received the call around 2:30 pm They said around 3:30 pm in a Twitter message that there was no longer a threat to public safety.

However, residents can expect to see a lot of police in the neighborhood.

This police intervention follows another incident on Thursday in Scarborough, east of Toronto.

Police received several calls about a man with a gun. Schools were also placed in confinement.

The man was killed. We later realized that he had a pellet gun.
