According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Jacob Hoggard surrendered to police on March 2, 2022 with his attorney at the South Porcupine police station in Timmins, 140 km west of Kirkland Lake. He was arrested, charged and released on a promise to return to court.

Although Mr. Hoggard was named in court documents, the POP He chose not to be identified in his press release at the time, when he wrote that a 37-year-old man in Vancouver was facing sexual assault charges for offenses in 2016.

The complainant provided e-mails to the CBC showing that he had asked POP to name the singer in the press release in question. A detective told him he did not want to reveal his identity to protect him. The complainant, who no longer lives in Ontario, was not named in the documents in question.

However, police said the decision not to identify the actor was made after consultation with senior management of the police force.

The identity and safety of the alleged victim is more importantexplains in an email to Bill Dickson, the media manager at POP. The profile or occupation of the defendant does not determine the factors in the decision.

Stronger

The BC native told the CBC that he was considering filing a complaint with the police in early 2018, when allegations of sexual misconduct first surfaced on social media on the band Hedley’s Cageless tour.

In February 2018, even before the CBC published allegations of sexual assault by other women against Mr. Hoggard, the complainant discussed the subject with one of its reporters. He finally decided not to share his story.

I would have reported it to the authorities a long time ago, but I was worried that no one might believe me because of his popularity.

From the alleged rape, the woman said she finished her college education and added that she found solace in a new relationship. I have the support of my husband, it is very helpful to me, I feel strongerhe said, noting however that he still had nightmares about what had happened to him.

At a motel on Kirkland Lake

The CBC could not independently verify the account of the events, but it does confirm that the band members actually stayed at the Comfort Inn motel on Kirkland Lake in 2016. The CBC also saw a selfie of the 19-year-old woman with Jacob Hoggard after the concert that night.

On June 24, 2016, the woman attended Hedley’s concert at Kirkland Lake Community Center with a family member. After the concert, they boarded the van that took the fans to the hotel to party with the band. The accompanying family member left the motel before the Complainant.

The complainant says he drank some beer with the band members around a campfire just behind the hotel. He admitted he was drunk when the singer escorted him to his room.

Coming inside, the woman said she saw some guitars there and she wanted them to play them together with Jacob Hoggard. He told her he was talking too much, picked up her phone and raped her.

The complainant added the singer acted as if he owned her, as if he could do everything he wanted with her.

She claims it undressed her despite her efforts to deny her advances and take a nude photo of her without her permission. He said he then undressed, revealing dragon tattoos and what a panther looked like on his body.

He added that the singer asked him his age, he replied that he was 19 and it pushed him when he tried to kiss him. She pointed out that Jacob Hoggard tried to insert her anally but he had a hard time preventing her from doing so and then raped her genitals.

I fought it endlessly. I was stunned under his body. He is very strong, he continued. He assured CBC that he was shouting to ask her to stop.

The complainant added that the singer insulted him during the attack and he also changed the call. dirty little sow or of good woman. He pointed out that it strangled him and hit him in the thighs. The red marks stayed there for a weekhe says.

The woman added that she was nauseous after the alleged rape so she vomited in the bathroom in the bedroom.

When he wanted to take a bath, the singer asked if he could pee. He claims he refused, but he still did it. I was disgusted and sad.

He also says that Mr. did not use a condom. Hoggard.

I’m just an ordinary woman who wants to meet a rock star to talk to her about musiche says.

When it was time to leave the room, the complainant insisted that Jacob Hoggard asked him to stay in the room for half an hour after leaving and exited the room through the patio door and not into the hallway.

However, he claims that some members of the group saw him leave the room. The CBC says it tried unsuccessfully to prove what it was saying to other group members.

The complainant says he eventually burned his diary in which he wrote about his feelings after the concert in an effort to overcome his trauma.

He added that he went to a clinic in Kirkland Lake a few days later to take a diagnostic test for sexually transmitted diseases, which turned out to be negative. The CBC could not confirm his attendance at the clinic.

Aside from the police, he added that he only disclosed what happened to him to his wife, a mental health counselor and to the CBC. The husband also confirmed to the CBC that she told him everything that happened to him and urged him to go and file a complaint with the police.

The woman said she deleted videos she made at the concert and at the motel party, but those distressing memories come out occasionally and sometimes she loses sleep.

His blue eyes were still scared of me, as if I was embarrassed, as if I was somethinghe concludes.
