Children booed as England kneels against racism

Gareth Southgate, England coach, was shown this Saturday after the defeat hurt not only by the result against Hungary (1-0), but because his players were booed by kneeling before the start of the game in protest against racism by some of the fans gathered at the Puskas Arenas, who were almost entirely children.

The match had to be played behind closed doors and inviting minors was the legal loophole found by the Magyar Football Federation to have an audience in the stadium.

“Upon arrival at the stadium the atmosphere was friendly. Not after. I think the young are influenced by their elders,” Southgate said. Regarding the match, the England coach stated that “we didn’t do enough to win”.
