An emotional hearing at the trial for the murder of Lise Danais

Those present at the trial of the young man accused of killing Lise Danais on Monday afternoon were emotional as videos featuring the victim were shown.

Lise Danais died on March 26, 2019 at her residence in Southdale, Winnipeg. The third week of the defendant’s trial began on Monday.

The Defense showed several videos of Ms. Danais, before his death, where he looked cheerful. Their broadcast brought tears to the eyes of those present in the public section, many of whom have been there since the trial began.

More than 20,000 pages of text messages

The videos were shown as part of a cross-examination by Detective Sergeant Michael MacDonald, who also testified for the Crown, in the morning. The latter was responsible for extracting from the victim’s mobile phone and tablet text messages he had exchanged with the accused since 2017.

He also reviewed these text messages, which total more than 20,000 printed pages.

It appears from this that the teenager often offered services to Ms. Danais. The detective sergeant also confirms that the youth was not aggressive in the context of these exchanges.

Tuesday, the Crown will call as a witness the pathologist in charge of the autopsy of Lise Danais ’body.

Her testimony will be followed by the testimony of the investigator responsible for verifying the alibi of a colleague of Ms. Danais has been harassing him since 2018, according to messages he sent to his relatives and presented during the trial.

The accused in the first degree murder of Lise Danais cannot be named under the Juvenile Criminal Justice Act.
