The murder at the Albert Hotel in April 2021 disputed by the accused

Steven Pelletier will challenge the second degree murder case filed against him in Sherbrooke.

This individual is charged with second -degree murder of Harold Joseph Diotte committed on April 9, 2021 at the Albert Hotel in Sherbrooke.

Eight days of hearings were set aside at Sherbrooke courthouse in the fall of 2022 for preliminary inquiry.

At the end of this pre -trial period, defense attorney Me Christian Raymond intends to plead that the evidence is insufficient to support the second -degree murder case filed against his client.

The conviction for such a crime carries a penalty of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole for ten years.

Witnesses in the preliminary investigation will be called from October 4 to 7 and then from November 1 to 4.

The case against Steven Pelletier was brought nine months after the events.

The latter has been incarcerated since the trial began. In fact he was already incarcerated in another case when the murder charges were filed in January.

The events in which he was charged allegedly took place in a room at the Albert Hotel located at the corner of King East and Bowen streets.

Harold Joseph Diotte was found unresponsive in his hotel room.
