Fatal collision between a motorcycle and a semi-trailer truck near Saint-Jean

A 56-year-old man from Musquash, a community located west of Saint-Jean, was killed following a collision between a motorcycle and a tractor-trailer on Highway 1, in the Prince of Wales area, about twenty miles west of Saint-Jean.

Shortly after 12:30 pm Friday, members of the Grand Bay-Wesfield RCMP Detachment, Musquash Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick and the Department of Public Safety attended the scene of the collision on Highway 1 in Prince of Wales.

The collision allegedly took place when a semi-trailer truck traveling east collided with a motorcycle parked on its shoulder. The motorcycle then struck the driver standing near it.

The driver of the motorcycle was taken to the hospital where he died. The driver and the lone passenger of the semi-trailer truck were not injured.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist assists in the investigation to determine the cause of the collision.

The RCMP asks anyone traveling east on Highway 1 at the time of the collision who witnessed the incident to contact the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP Detachment at 506-757-1020.
