According to the Sherbrooke Police Service (SPS), the 19-year-old was riding an electric bicycle after a celebration with friends where he allegedly drank alcohol.

The driver of the van was then driving on rue de l’Aurore-Boréale in a southerly direction. At the intersection of rue des Mille-Abeilles, the bicycle passed in front of him without stopping. The driver of the van did not see him, explained Lieutenant Alexandre Provencher. The cyclist was then thrown. No witnesses saw the accident, but its impact has mobilized the neighborhood.
