To mark the opening of its new Baie au Chêne climbing site, the Eastern Bloc climbing center will hold the first edition of the Pointe-à-la-Croix Climbing Festival until Sunday. Dozens of participants answered the call on Saturday.
For two days, the event will offer amateurs climbing initiation sessions, a conference, a film screening as well as yoga, Pilates and rope dancing.
The Bloc de l’Est was able to inaugurate the site after two years of trying to link it to the Fédération québécoise de montagne et d’escalade (FQME). The group currently has 80 rock climbing sites throughout Quebec.

I have never been to Gaspésie and I was allowed to climb. When I travel often, I chase rock faceslaunched Gabrielle Legal, who came from Quebec for the occasion.
About twenty climbing routes have already been set up over the rock of Pointe-à-la-Croix and about fifty should be accessible by the end of the summer.
The first edition of the festival is not yet finished, but organizers are already considering a second version as well as making the event permanent.
