The initiative is supported by the Italian Pastry and Dessert Industries Associations (Aidepi) and the International Pasta Organization (IPO). The classic version of the dish includes eggs, guanciale (pork), pecorino cheese, olive oil and black pepper.

A survey commissioned by the Unione Italiana Food pasta producers at the Piepoli Institute reveals that for nine out of 10 Italians (95%), carbonara pasta is always consumed, especially with the family.
According to a study of 500 adults, for eight out of 10 Italians, pasta à carbonara is linked to a “heart issue”: 62% share it with their families and 20% with partners. Only 13% enjoy dining with friends, mostly men under the age of 35.
In addition, the survey reveals that Italian actor Carlo Verdone and President Sergio Mattarella are the people Italians would most willingly share a pasta carbonara with.
Fiumicino (Rome), Monterotondo (Rome) and Fabriano (Ancona) are the top places to order carbonara at home, according to an analysis by the food app “Deliveryoo”. The preferred day to buy pasta is Tuesday (ANSA)
