The European Football Fans Association (ESF) reiterated its rejection of the Super League before the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU) opens the hearing of the case this Monday, because it considers it “the model of a billionaire”, which “is anticompetitive” and “it would eliminate the principles of the European model of sport”.
“As we have repeatedly said, the Super League represents a existential threat to football European men’s and women’s, from grassroots to professional football. The project is the model of a multimillionaire“, indicated the group that includes fan associations from more than twenty countries, including Spain.
In a statement released this Monday before the start in Luxembourg of the hearing of the case at the CJEU with the participation of the parties in litigation, the association assured that the Super League project “is anticompetitive by design”
“If carried out, it would remove the fundamental principles on which the European model of sport is based, including the sports merit, promotion and relegation, qualification for Europe through success in national competitions and financial solidarity from the top to the bottom of the football pyramid,” he said.

FSE assured “that the overwhelmingly fans” opposes the project, so he asked “as many as possible to make their voices heard by signing the European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) ‘Get it on the pitch’, which calls on the EU Commission to protect the integrity of European football. No more Super Leagues.”
