Russia announced today that all Ukrainians have access to Russian citizenship, expanding a measure that has hitherto been applied only to Ukrainian territory occupied by its troops.
“Citizens of Ukraine (…) have the right to apply for citizenship of the Russian Federation according to the simplified procedure,” President Vladimir Putin’s decree, published on Monday, said.
Russian attacks on the Kharkov region of Ukraine did not stop, and the number of civilian deaths today has reached five, in addition to dozens of injured and destroyed buildings.
Regional governor Oleg Sinegubov said via Telegram, according to the Unian portal, that at least three people were killed and 28 others injured in a missile attack that occurred around 10:20 a.m. (local time) in the province’s eponymous capital.
In addition to Kharkiv, other cities in the region also registered action. Two people were killed after an attack in Zolovich that also destroyed 13 civilian homes.
Ukraine announces retaking village of Kherson
A Ukrainian infantry brigade said on Monday that Ukrainian forces recaptured the village of Ivanivka in the Russian-occupied Kherson region in the south of the country.
“All that remains of the Russian invaders in Ivanivka are terrible memories and ‘dead’ military equipment,” the brigade said.
Reuters could not immediately confirm the claim. There is more than one village of Ivanivka in the region. One of them is on the front line of the war.
