Mariona Caldentey, player of the Spanish team, said that luck is that they are “alive” to get into the quarterfinals after falling to Germany 2-0 on Tuesday on the second day of the Women’s European Championship.
Caldentey, who had some of the clearest chances in Spain, was highly critical of La Roja’s performance at the Brentford stadium.
“You don’t prepare for the game thinking that, again, in the first few minutes you’re going to get behind. In moments of the game we’ve been better, we’ve deserved more, but that’s not enough,” said Mariona Caldentey,
“Today you lose 2-0 due to specific errors, which are errors that we accept, but in championships like this the price is great. We are lucky that it was in the group stage and that we depend on ourselves to be in the quarterfinals. The luck is that we are alive,” added the attacker.
