Vladimir Putin’s daughters were sanctioned by Canada

The Canadian government on Tuesday announced new sanctions against Russia’s elites and close associates of Vladimir Putin’s regime in response to the invasion of Ukraine. The two daughters of the Russian president are among the 14 -year target.

Canada confiscated the assets of Maria Vorontsova and Katerina Tikhonova, and suspended their access to Canada’s financial system.

Twelve other people have been added to the long list of individuals allowed since the fighting began. Russian oligarchs and their family members are part of this group of close associates.

The United States, the United Kingdom and the European Union have already taken similar steps regarding the daughters of the President of Russia.

Maria Vorontsova was born in 1985 and Katerina Tikhonova in 1986. They are the daughters of Lyudmila Putina and Mr. Putin, who split in 2013.

At least 743 individuals and entities associated with the Russian regime have been authorized by the Canadian government since February 24.

Canada continues to support the brave men and women who fought for their freedom in UkraineCanadian Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly said in a statement.

We will continue to impose heavy costs on the Russian regime in dealing with our allies and we will relentlessly seek accountability for their actions. They have to be held accountable for their crimes.

Canadian authorities denounced barbaric acts of the Russian regime in Ukraine on the basis of the report of the Moscow Mechanism, published last week.

In this document, OSCE experts report cruelty and serious human rights violations made in Ukraine by Russian troops. The organization, which brings together 46 countries, concluded that war crimes had been committed, and most likely crimes against humanity.

Canada is one of the countries that referred the situation in Ukraine to the International Criminal Court (ICC).
