Canada will send eight armored vehicles to Ukraine, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin announced on Tuesday after a meeting of allies held at U.S. Air Force Base in Ramstein, Germany.
The purpose of the meeting was to expedite the delivery of military equipment demanded by Ukraine to repel the Russian aggression, which has been underway since February 24.
Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand confirmed before the meeting that Canada would send armored vehicles to the Ukrainian government, but did not specify the number.
In a statement released Friday, National Defense said it was working to end it contracts for several brand name armored vehicles to be shipped to Ukraine soon.
