Of the total budget of $ 7.6 billion, the Plan for a green economy 2030 announced Thursday by Quebec that it aims to combat climate change by prioritizing transportation electrification and reducing industries ’carbon footprint.
The largest portion of the budget for this 2022-2027 implementation plan, nearly $ 3.5 billion, is focused on reducing transportation’s carbon footprint. This sector accounts for more than 43% of Québec’s emissions.
The Legault government has also injected more than $ 2.1 billion to accelerate the green transition of industries and buildings.
For the industry sector alone, investments will amount to $ 1.34 billion, double what was granted in 2020, when the government’s first Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ) implementation plan was launched.
Québec has now identified and funded 51% of the actions to be taken to achieve the target for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030said the Quebec government in a press release.
It’s about an increase of 9% compared to the proportion of 42% established in 2020.
