The leader of Quebec’s Liberal Party, Dominique Anglade, presented the Liberal candidate on board the Mont-Royal – Outremont, Michelle Setlakwe, for the 2022. general election. So she will replace Pierre Arcand, who announced his departure from political life on Sunday.
Si Ms. Setlakwe was a councilor in Ville Mont-Royal from 2016 to 2021 for Mayor Philippe Roy’s party. However, he was expelled from the caucus in 2021 for publicly announcing reservations about part of the Royalmount residence.
In the same year, he launched a new party to run as a candidate for mayor of Ville Mont-Royal, but he was defeated by Peter Malouf. He was quick to declare that the necessary permits for the residential component of Royalmount would not be issued.
Prior to that, Michelle Setlakwe, a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1996, notably worked in business law.
She is the wife of Michael Fortier, a former minister under Stephen Harper’s Conservative government and current head of the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).
I want to continue the wonderful work of Pierre Arcand and contribute to building a more inclusive and equitable Quebec with Dominique Anglade and the Liberal team.he said in a press release from the Liberal Party of Quebec.
Pierre Arcand announced his departure from political life on Sunday, after 15 years of activity in the field of politics. The MP for Outremont – Mont-Royal was first elected in 2007.
