Andrée Laforest promised adequate housing for Chicoutimi-Nord victims

The 21 residents of the Le Pentagone housing cooperative in Chicoutimi-Nord, which were devastated by the fire on Saturday morning, will have a new suitable home quickly, Minister Andrée Laforest promised.

The Municipal Housing Office (OMH) of Saguenay had to contact seven families on Monday to offer them housing.

Quebec’s Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing and Minister responsible for the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region, Andrée Laforest, gave the assurance.

“Sure we will talk to families about whether housing is right for them, but I think. For insurance, work continues on Desjardins. We will continue to work together, this is important. I say to families: “you can be sure. We are here, we have found accommodation for you. Take good care of your children, we will do the rest”, declared one who is also a representative of Chicoutimi.

The investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fire, which may be of criminal origin.
