Government: Borne’s popularity rating exceeds Macron’s in August

According to the Ifop monthly barometer of the Journal du Dimanche, the head of state was preceded by his prime minister.

Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne saw her popularity rating rise in August, according to the Ifop barometer for the Sunday newspaper. The head of government obtains 41% of favorable opinions, and is ahead of Emmanuel Macron, who drops to 37%. Last month, the president and the prime minister stagnated at 38%.

If the popularity index of the Head of State stabilizes, it is falling in all categories of the population, and even within his 2017 electoral base. Thus, he loses seven points among business leaders, five points among senior executives and supporters of LaREM, two points among those over 65 years of age.

For her part, Elisabeth Borne has progressed among young people (+12 points), artisans and merchants (+9 points) and has risen among the followers of LaREM.

By June, Elisabeth Borne’s popularity rating had dropped seven points, just a month after her appointment to Matignon, and Emmanuel Macron had lost two points.
