Hinduwho ended up as the leader of the regular stage, and SICwho finished third, will play the grand finale this Saturday at 16:10 Top 13 of the Buenos Aires tournament at CASI, the usual stage for the decisive instances of the most important Argentine rugby league at club level. The broadcast of ESPN 2 and Star + will begin at 3:30 pm.

Nobody except Hindú and SIC have won the tournament multiple times since it started playing under the final system in 1998 – only in 2001 that decisive match was not played and the Alumni won the title. Don Torcuato’s team has done it nine times while Boulogne’s team has won seven titles.

in the semifinals Hindu has ratified its great season and left CUBA, the champion, 29-14 arriving in a match in which he was much better in the first half, a period in which he recovered from a try that his opponent scored at the start. A peak of performance in ten minutes of complement allowed him to take an undisputed advantage (later, with four yellow cards that complicated him in the last half hour of play, he dedicated himself to defense and did it with a lot of attitude). This is why the illusion is great.

From the hand of a pack of powerful attackers, in which the hooker shines Agostino Capurrowho has scored two tries against CUBA and is the undisputed tryman of the tournament with 23 wins, Hindú has many reasons to celebrate the 11th title in its history – the first since 2017 – and equal Belgrano in fourth place among the most successful .

But on the other hand, a great rival awaits him. In the other semifinal, SIC defeated Newman in a tight and tough match, 18-17, thus reaching its third consecutive final. The history of the club supports him in recent times and his defense is also the strong point of his game.

SIC became champion in 2019, after eight years of drought, and last year finished second after losing narrowly to CUBA 10-9. In San Isidro he will look for the 27th star in his history just six titles from CASI, his traditional and classic opponent.

It will have a very special absence. There will be no exceptional opening midfielder Joaquín Lamas, who was decisive in that title he won three years ago disguising himself as a hero after scoring a drop goal that meant glory. Lamas, who alternates between his club and Argentine Sevens, will be replaced by Santiago Pavlovsky.

In the event of a tie after 80 minutes, the criteria for defining sudden death will be applied. In other words, “once the regular time has elapsed, the game will resume immediately and the first difference in two halves of ten minutes each, with two rest periods and a change of sides”, as per regulation.

In the event that the tie persists, the following aspects will be taken into consideration to determine the winner: higher number of tries, drops, penalties and transformations, fewer yellow and red cards, which team scored the first try, drops, penalties and conversion. And if they are still tied, the champion will be the one with the best position in the regular (Hindu) phase.

With the fan zone opening at 12, with music, gastronomy, games, lotteries and promotions, Buenos Aires rugby is ready to experience another party with 8,500 people in the stands.
