the Russian Dmitry Bivol retained the title this Saturday light heavy of the world boxing association (WBA) defeating the Mexican by unanimous decision Gilberto ‘Zurdo Ramirez at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. The judges awarded the defending champion the winner with a card of 118-110 and two of 117-110.
Bivol saw himself with great speed in the first round where he did damage with his jab and good combinations. Despite Ramírez hitting his right hook well, the European was better off, taking advantage of the 1-2.
In a second the Mexican made changes, defended well and leveled the fightescaping the offenses of Bivol, who in the third he damaged with ‘swing’ to the chest and ‘jab’, and in the fourth and fifth he punished with good forehands and streaks that increased his advantage over the cards.
The fight, continued clean, came to the center with good exchanges in an even sixth round, in which the Mexican did not clash and seemed to be back in the fight.
However, in the seventh the Russian still takes advantage of itwith good hooks, powerful left straights and right tips.
Patient, Bivol waited for Zurdo Ramírez and in the eighth round he punished with a good series of impacts confirming the difference in his favor, which he enlarged in the ninth.
In that round, Ramírez made a good impression when he put Bivol on the ropes, who reacted with several unanswered blows, then dedicated himself to dancing, confident that he had done enough to win another round.
The half hour of fighting didn’t seem to slow Bivol. In the eleventh he showed good speed with his hands and legs and, once again, he took advantage of it with response shots against the Mexican, who showed courage and at times he hit, but was passed.
Bivol finished better in the last round reaching 21 wins without defeats, 11 on the fast track. Ramírez suffered his first defeat with 44 wins, 30 of which were by knockout.
