Four years of waiting, matches and preparations to play the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. It’s a difficult problem to explain. It happened at Ghanaian national, which integrates Group H with Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay. What happened? The delegation still lacks something fundamental: the shirts.
According to information from the Federation of the African country, it was an oversight by the mayor of the delegation. And now work against the clock so much so that on Thursday 24 November, in their debut against Portugal, they don’t wear unscheduled clothes.
Then, they will play against South Korea on the 28th and on December 2nd they will close group H against Uruguay.
What options do they have? FIFA warns of severe penalties for altering the previously stipulated uniform, which is why a timely shipment to the production site or sports houses in Europe would be sought. For now they are looking for shipments that arrive through postal services.
Iñaki Williams, scorer for Athletic Bilbao, was the image used by Ghana (and by Puma, the company that dressed him) to advertise the World Cup for Africans. Now, to have a coherent première, they need nothing less than their T-shirts.
Ghana’s official explanation of what happened to the shirts
The general secretary of the Ghana Football Association, Prosper Harrison Addo, clarified the versions on the conflict with the shirts.
It turns out that the African team is in Abu Dhabi, where next Thursday, November 17, they will play their last friendly before the big event, against Switzerland, and then they will travel to Qatar, where they will have the official clothing for the World Cup.
“Please, the Black Stars (nickname of the Ghana national team) have no problem with the shirt. Puma sent the Black Stars kit, including the match shirts, directly to Doha as scheduled.”Harrison Addo reported on his Twitter account, addressing the releases.
“I keep pleading that we allow the team to stay focused and focus on what’s important”convicted, clarifying what happened.
