Robert Lewandowski, captain of Poland, this Friday highlighted Brazil, Spain, Argentina and France as the “favorites” for the title at the World Cup in Qatar 2022, without yet looking at the duel with the albiceleste on the last day of their group and he dwelled on next Tuesday’s match against the Mexican team, whose importance he underlined.

“The strongest teams are Brazil, Argentina, Spain and France. Those are the favourites,” said the striker, who will face Lionel Messi in the final round of the first round: “It’s difficult to talk about the match against Argentina with two games to go. The first two games could be fundamental for the duel with Argentina. We are betting on Mexico.”

“We hope to start well. Mexico will try to complicate the match for us. It is a very important match for us. We are aware of the potential that our rivals have. We are not favourites. I am sure we will give our best version,” he said.

The striker assumes he will capture the attention of his opponents, but he looked for the positive situation he can generate in the collective operation: “We can use it so that my team-mates occupy the free spaces. We are ready. It can be an advantage.”

“The most important thing in a World Cup is to be effective and to win”explained the striker in a press conference at the Al Kharaitiyat training centre, before his team’s afternoon session in Doha, where he disembarked on Thursday evening to face the World Cup.

“I don’t know if it will be my last World Cup. But I prepare as if it were my last. I feel good physically, but it’s not just sports factors that influence it,” explained the 34-year-old striker and leader of the Polish team in Qatar 2022.
