Germany will play their first match in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, this Wednesday against Japan, without their striker Leroy Sané, who is suffering from knee discomfort.

The German Football Federation (DFB) announced this Monday morning before team training, which usually takes place at the Al Shamal stadium, a town located about 120 kilometers north of Doha where the four-time champion is located.

After lunch, the German squad will travel to Doha, where they will spend the night in a luxury hotel to rest ahead of this Wednesday’s match, just hours before Spain’s opening match against Costa Rica.
