There are several chapters in the rivalry between Alejandro Fantino and colleagues Sebastián Vignolo and Mariano Closs, and there doesn’t seem to be an end. There always seems to be a reason to light the flame between the journalists’ rivalry and this Thursday, in the Multiverse Fantino program that he hosts for Neura media radio, he once again dedicated a few words which, clearly, objected to the speakers.
The outstanding performance of Julián Álvarez, who scored the last goal in Argentina’s 2-0 win against Poland, where he replaced Lautaro Martínez who was on the bench, ignited the debate over who should start in Escaloneta. Using this dilemma, the reporter echoed a conversation they had with Closs and Vignolo on this topic when they were colleagues on the international ESPN network, where he allegedly predicted their performance. But, presumably, no one was listening to him.
“In October 2020 I was telling (Mariano) Closs face to face that Julián Álvarez had to be the 9th of the national team to replace Agüero, and as always, Closs laughs candidly, with that crooked smile. Face to face, Julián Álvarez hadn’t even been called up to the Selection…”, recalled the journalist.
And I add: “That Dr. Marianito takes it from you, from you, from Pollo (Vignolo), from the whole gang of the football bourgeoisie ESPNTo close his speech, in an angry tone, he left some strong sentences against them: “Walk among the people, don’t stay inside the hotel, don’t be such an asshole, show your face 2-0 Argentina. Another, Marianito, go to the proctologist and have the doctor remove you, the one with the black WhatsApp you have inside…”
Fantino’s crosses against journalists are nothing new and the story has tough precedents. Despite this, Closs and Vignolo have never made public statements about Fantino’s statements.
Just three months ago, the episode that marked a before and after were Alejandro’s statements against journalists on Neura radio when he spoke, together with his panel, of a hypothetical proposal from ESPN, where he worked, to travel with them to cover the World Cup, but warned him I would have spat in his face who do you offer it to? And his answer was right for the company terminate the contract with him.
“Do you know why I spat in his face? In the sense of the hatred it would cause me. I spit what I hear in his face. You do not know me? You are disrespectful. do you want me to go with ‘Azula’ Vignolo and with ‘that’s smart’ Closs at the World Cup. No dad, you’re wrong. You’re joking with me, with the memory of my father always telling me ‘always on my feet, never on my knees'”.
