The training open to the press of the Argentine team provided the first piece of good news of the week: Ángel Di María joined the team and trained normally with his teammates: apparently the injury that ruled him out of the match against Australia in the round of 16 is behind him.
This way, it is likely that Fideo will at least be available for the important quarter-final match against the Netherlands. It remains to be seen whether he will be the owner or one of the substitutes available to coach Lionel Scaloni.
Di María was sidelined with a strain on his right quadriceps. He came off as a precaution against Poland in the final group stage match and was unavailable in the round of 16 against Australia, although he sat on the substitutes’ bench without wearing the garment.
Tuesday’s training session was the first in which Fideo moved alongside his teammates, at least in the section to which the press had access.
